The Marshall Mathers LP

Whether you love him or hate him, it's hard to deny that Eminem is the best rapper today, and may be the best rapper of all time. His clear diction, rapid fire delivery, innovative beats, and clever lyrics make for very entertaining music. He didn't win a Grammy for nothing.

This Grammy Award winning CD is awesome and powerful. Songs like The Way I Am and Marshal Mathers are sung with power and conviction, while the more humorous The Real Slim Shady and Who Knew are provocative and clever. And Eminem's live performances of these songs are even more powerful and compelling.

Pointer Sisters:

I do not have a review of any Pointer Sister Albums, but I wanted to note that one of the Pointer Sisters, June Pointer passed away. She died "in the arms of her sisters, Ruth and Anita and her brothers, Aaron and Fritz, by her side,". As a result of a battle with Cancer. In memory of June please donate to the Cancer society in your state or province. I will revisit some of the Pointer Sisters work, and review their music as soon as I can track down some of their recordings.

Disney Music:

I found an old LP with the best Disney songs from their classic movies. At first I did not know if that would be the right type of music to review on this blog, but these are songs that most people grew up with. As I thought more and more about this it made sense, many music fans started with a Disney LP or one of their story books on 45. The songs on this LP such as the Peter Pan "You can Fly", just had a happy feeling that brought me back to my childhood. I would recommend tracking down some old Disney records and revisiting these type of music. If anything it will bring you back to a happy care free time in your life and their is nothing wrong with that.

Corey Hart:

In 1984 Corey Hart a Canadian singer song writer came out with his second album. The album Boy In the Box went on to sell well over a million copies in Canada, and made it one of the best selling Canadian albums of all time. I bought the record when it came out in 1984. The first track Never Surrender would serve as a song of determination and motivation for many people. The challenge to live your dreams and not let other take them away made this a very popular recording. The rest of the album is a mix of love songs and faster pop rock. The title track Boy In the Box is a fast tempo song with a great video made in England. The ballad to fans Everything in my Heart also made the charts and put this record on heavy rotation across the US and Canada. The treasure on this album is the last track on side two Water from the moon another pure song that inspires. In the 80's Corey Hart had many other albums and hits, then he left the music scene for a few years to pursue a family and find inspiration. In 1996 Corey Hart returned with a new CD, the self titles Corey Hart a mature fresh sound that placed Corey Hart in the list of all time greatest performers from Canada. Try googling Corey Hart to find some bio information.

John Lennon Milk and Honey

I found these album in 1992 in a used record store. I really like the song Nobody Told me when the album was released around 1984. I was to young to know much about John Lennon. I knew he was a Beatle and that he had been murdered in New York. So the song got some strong air play at the time and it got stuck in my head. As I got a little older, I became a big Beatles fans and even bigger John Lennon fan. Here was a man with so much to give the world and his life cut short. So I remember getting this album home and listening to the whole album. It featured a few Yoko Ono tracks that were alright, but it was the track Grow old with me that really stood out. This was one of John's last song created as a demo at home on a piano drum machine and porta studio. The raw sound of the song and the emotion is a rare treasure. This song was supposed to have been a song people could play at there weddings and a classic song for all time. The passing of John Lennon left this song in demo state and Yoko cleaned up the track a little for this release. The album Milk and Honey is a classic to me because of Grow old with me and Nobody told me. It is an album worth listening to and having in a collection.

Welcome:

I created this blog to review old albums or CD's that I have collected over the years. I hate to throw these out or put them on some sort of mp3 player, but I might need to at some time due to limited space. So in world of mp3 players I will return to the days of opening a package and gently placing it on the turntable and enjoying every bit of sound.

Enjoy the site let me know what you think.
